WordPress or a custom website
WordPress is a good choice when someone must edit content every day without a developer. It is a weak choice when the site looks like a theme, leans on plugins, and cannot move without the original builder.
The question is not what everyone uses
WordPress runs a large share of the web because editing is convenient. That is a real advantage for a blog or a catalogue the client updates alone. It is not an automatic advantage for a brochure site that must look distinct and load quickly.
A custom site, in our case React, is written to the structure agreed in the brief. There is no shared theme, and no plugin pile for a form and a WhatsApp button.
Compare what the business feels later
The last two rows matter more than the platform logo. A good site is one you can leave with.
| WordPress on a theme | Custom site | |
|---|---|---|
| Day-to-day editing | Comfortable inside the system | Whatever was agreed: a simple editor, or updates with us |
| Look | Often like others on the same theme | According to the brand |
| Speed | Depends on plugins and the theme | Fewer layers, and it is measured |
| Organic search | Possible if the structure is clean | The structure is written for crawling |
| Changing vendor | Easier on standard WordPress | Possible if the code is handed over |
| Risk | Lock-in to plugins and the builder | Dependence on a developer if the code is not handed over |
