Internal links on a business site
An internal link is a sentence that leads to another page on the same site. It helps Google discover the page, and it says which page is central for the topic. It does not replace content.
From the question to the page that closes
Someone reading what a site costs needs a path to the proposal, not to ten more articles on the same question. The link text should say where it goes: “what the packages include”, not “click here”.
An orphan page, with no link from the menu or a guide, is discovered more slowly. A sitemap helps discovery. A link inside a paragraph helps understanding.
| Sound | Weak | |
|---|---|---|
| Link text | Describes the destination | Click here |
| Destination | One page on that topic | The home page from every sentence |
| Count | A few relevant links | Twenty links in a paragraph |
| A new page | A link from a guide and the menu | Only in the sitemap |
