Moving off Wix
A Wix site does not come out as files you can place on another server. The move is a new build. What transfers is the content, the domain, and the addresses that need a redirect if they change.
What moves and what is rebuilt
Wix is a closed system. There is no full export of the design and code into an independent site. Someone who wants to leave copies the text and images and rebuilds the structure elsewhere. That is a project, not a button.
The domain can stay, if the registrar account is in the business name and not locked without access. Old addresses that receive links or traffic need a redirect to the matching new page.
| Item | Moves as-is | Built again |
|---|---|---|
| Text | Yes, by copying | Wording can be sharpened |
| Images | Yes, if you have the files | Not from inside the lock |
| Design | No | Yes |
| Domain | Yes, if you can access the registrar | Only the connection |
| Old rankings | Not automatically | A redirect and matching content help |
