What a WhatsApp agent is for a business
A WhatsApp agent is software that answers on the business number, inside the rules you gave it. It fits questions that repeat. It does not fit a promise, a discount, or a complaint.
What it actually does
A customer writes. The agent checks whether there is a prepared answer: hours, address, what the service includes, or an opening in a calendar. If there is a match, it answers. If there is not, it says it is handing the chat over, and you receive it.
Without a list of answers and a handoff rule, there is no agent. There is a text box that can invent. The work starts from what it is allowed to say.
| Person | Agent | |
|---|---|---|
| Hours and address | Answers when free | Answers immediately, if it was written |
| An unapproved price | Decides | Does not close it |
| A complaint | Handles it | Hands it over |
| Night | The next day | Only what is inside the rules |
What it is not
It is not a hired employee. It does not close a deal unless the rule allows it. And it is not a system that replaces a CRM, a calendar, and a service desk at once.
Ordinary WhatsApp, where the owner replies, is not an agent. An agent that answers customers on its own sits on the WhatsApp Business API, with a verified business account.
